It is official; Donald Trump is the president elect of the United States. I believe that God has given America what could be legally termed a “stay of execution”. This is not a pardon, just a temporary reprieve. First, let us look at the election results, then the possible course of events, and finally what I think God would wish us to do.
As of Thursday afternoon, Donald Trump has won the Electoral College, with 279 votes to Hillary Clinton’s 228. It appears that Clinton just barely won the popular vote, with 48% to Trump’s 47%. Out of approximately 126 million votes, 95% went to Trump or Clinton. Out of this 126 million, they were separated by only about 300,000 votes. One chart I saw, from a mainstream source using exit polling, indicated that Clinton got 88% of Black votes.
With her age and health issues, and Bill’s age, health, and ineligibility for a third term –it appears that the Clinton political dynasty is over!
The U.S. House of Representatives and Senate both have Republican Party majorities. My home state of Indiana elected a Republican Senator (Todd Young), Republican Representative (Trey Hollingsworth), and a Republican governor. My district also elected a Republican to the state house, and a Republican as Orange County judge. Perhaps people are a little tired of the Democratic agenda, as personified by Obama?
But before we get too excited, let us consider a few things. Recall the so-called Reagan Revolution. When Ronald Reagan took the presidency, did anything of significance happen to restore America –politically, economically, racially, or morally? No. Then recall the pathetically weak 1994 Contract with America. Did the Republicans of 1994 do anything significant to restore American in any of the aforementioned four ways? No.
And let us not forget the last Republican elected to the presidency, George W. Bush. Though he portrayed himself as a conservative, his policies were anything but. Did the George W. Bush administration, which at times had a Republican majority in both houses of Congress, do anything significant to restore America in any of the aforementioned ways? No. (Are you noticing a trend by now?) Furthermore, Dubya gave us the Patriot act, Military Commissions, “extraordinary rendition”, the establishment of the DHS and the TSA, the Iraq War for the non-existent WMDs (or maybe it was just for Israel?), the torture at Abu Ghraib, and in short –the national security state. As the old saying goes, with friends like these, who needs enemies?
I believe that Donald Trump’s presidency will continue the destruction of America, but likely at a much slower pace than Hillary Clinton’s would have. That is assuming that Trump is for real with his positions (not a deep level puppet), does not have anything criminal or highly embarrassing in his background to be blackmailed about, and that the Congress does not unite against him.
Let us not deceive ourselves, Trump is not our political savior. Trump would not wish to restore the Founder’s Republic, even if he alone had the sole power to (which a President does not). Trump has spoken out in favor of waterboarding and torture and of barring people on the no fly list from buying guns. Trump has not professed a desire to pull all American troops back from overseas, or to totally end the welfare state/entitlement programs. Trump wants to repeal and replace ObamaCare, not just repeal it.
On the positive side, I am thankful that Trump has advocated a less interventionist foreign policy, one which does not desire to confront Russia and risk a nuclear exchange over the desert sands of Tel Aviv’s enemies! Further, Trump probably will not push for new gun control, more abortion “rights”, or the further mainstreaming of the sodomite lifestyle.
Barring another orchestrated event like 9/11, America may be in for four years of relative calm. Let us thank God that he has given his people a little longer to prepare for the judgment that our national sins have accrued.
Electing an openly immoral man to the presidency who mouths good slogans like “America First” does not cleanse America of our manifold transgressions, a short list of the major ones including: acceptance –and even celebration of sexual immorality (from pornography to fornication to divorce to adultery to sodomy), looking to the state as a god to care for us, an unsustainable lust driven economy built upon the consumption of consumer goods, massive debts (personal and national), the love of money (which is the root of all evil), farming practices that are destroying our soil (which was to be a perpetual inheritance to each generation) the destruction of the God ordained races through miscegenation, a violent imperial foreign policy against those who have done us no harm, and last but certainly not least –abortion. When a nation kills 40 million of its unborn, a typological parallel to the sacrifices to Moloch, why would God smile upon it? And the WWII destruction of the citizens Dresden by firebombing is really no different than abortion. America has blood on its hands, and yet believes that it is in the special favor of God (though not as favored as Christ rejecting Jews and their political state of Israel). America is primed for destruction.
In the 5th chapter of his excellent book Modern Religious Idols, Michael Bunker states the following: “I would like to say that, when a nation or society has reached its zenith, and when the people can actually (if they are willing to do so) see over the precipice of destruction, the diviners, soothsayers, and false prophets of that society become even shriller in defense of that which they love”. I wish to see, do you?
Later in the same chapter, Michael Bunker states, “The citizens of the United States, and those of most of the Western world, are looking Soviet-style collectivization dead in the eye. Socialism, whether it takes the form of Marxian socialism leading to communism, or the form of industro-capitalist socialism leading to fascism, is on the march. The pied pipers of worldliness, both in the “church” and outside of it, are leading the people into the gulag of their own making.”
Americans need to face reality. I am trying to warn my countrymen about what is inevitably coming. First, I think we need to humble ourselves before God, and study his word. Second, I believe that we should move toward a sustainable lifestyle that can exist without the power/water/sanitation grid that is run by the state and its corporations. This is the lifestyle of a freeman, and was how our ancestors lived. I covered this in my six page essay Homestead: Pillar of Liberty in my March 2016 book Putnam Liberty Notes. Michael Bunker covers it with much better depth in his book Surviving Off Off-Grid. Third, I think we need to maintain healthy bodies. Fourth, I believe that we should own, and know how to safely and competently operate, good quality firearms. I briefly covered this in my four page essay More Thoughts on Small Arms and Liberty in my August 2016 book As America Fades.
It appears that God has been gracious and given his remnant a little while longer to prepare; let us not waste it.
